Further improvement in textile & apparel trade structure

In the first eight months, the overall import and export amount of China's textile and apparel products hit US $103 billion, up 22.2 percent comparing to the same period of last year, of which export accounted for $91.36 billion, increasing 24.7 percent.

Meanwhile, import composed $11.94 billion, a growth of 6.1 percent from the previous year, according to the statistics from China's Customs.

During the period, textile and apparel export and import in general trade continued to increase as trade structure further optimized.

General trade export made of $65.52 billion, representing a share of 71 percent of the total export amount, up 29 percent, exceeding the average growth and posting a monthly increasing trend.

The export by processing trade obtained $22.31 billion, accounting for 24 percent, rising 12.7 percent, behind the growth of general trade, showing a further improvement of the trade structure with textile and apparel business.
