Cotton import & textile export drop in Sept

According to the statistics from the Customs, China imported 134,000 tons cotton in September, falling 53.1 percent from last month and 57.2 percent below the same period in 2005.

During January-September, China imported 3.16 million tons cotton, representing a rise of 75.5 percent on a year.

In September, textile and apparel export reached US $14.2 billion, down 6.6 percent from last month, but rising 21.2 percent from the corresponding period in 2005.

From January-September, China exported $105.6 billion of textiles and apparel products, up 24.2 percent comparing to the same time of last year.

In January-September, yarn output amounted to 12.43 million tons, gaining 21.6 percent from the same period of last year, with productin of 1.59 million tons in September, representing year-on-year growth of 23.5 percent.

The average price of cotton yarn 32S offered at 19415 yuan per ton in September, equal to last month; polyester staple fiber quoted at 12917 yuan per ton, climbing 168 yuan from last month, a growth of 1.3 percent.

The price gap between cotton in standard grade and polyester staple fiber on local market was 1031 yuan per ton, dwindling 207 yuan from the spread of last month.
