Colombian textile industry has registered positive growth for the third consecutive month. Production was 103 in July based on DANE Index of Textile Production (2001=100). It was an increase of 18.2 percent compared to previous year.
Apparel production has seen ups and downs with increase in May and decline in July. But the increase in textile production has helped boosting US cotton shipment to Colombia with shipment reaching 18, 895 bales, the largest volume of August shipments in years.
Retail sales of textile improved by 7.9 percent and apparel retail sales jumped 10.7 percent in July.
