Textile and garment industry of Vietnam saw volume of thread import for domestic production decline slightly but value registered an increase of 11.8 percent for first nine months, 2006.
Such a drop in volume will slow down production and exports to other countries in the coming months of 2006, especially in huge market like US.
Meanwhile, 11.8 percent increase in value was due to marginal increase in import price from Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
For several years now, Taiwan has been occupying top spot among leading thread suppliers to Vietnam.
