Textile & clothing exports to US soar

During January to October 2006, US imported textile and clothing worth US $22.441 billion, a hike of 14.86 percent over the same period 2005. This export accounted 28.49 percent of total textile and clothing imports by US. This year, China was biggest exporter of textile and clothing to US.

During this period, US imported clothing worth $15.311 billion, a surge of 13.69 percent. This accounted 25.28 percent of total US clothing imports.

Similarly, US imported textile worth US $7.130 billion, a rise of 17.45 percent. This accounted 39.17 percent of total US clothing imports.

The US imports included fabric, yarn, cotton textile, woolen textile, chemical fibre textile, silk and hemp textile, cotton costume, woolen costume, chemical fibre costume, silk costume and hemp costume.
