During the first 11 months of 2006, Russia imported textile and apparel goods worth US $54.6 million, a year–on–year surge of 46.8 percent, quoted official sources.
In November 2006, textile and apparel exports to Russia stood at $6.1 million, a jump of 53 percent over the same period 2005.
According to experts, textile and apparel exports to Russia will rise as enterprises focused on exports to non–quota markets.
For 2006, experts estimate that Vietnamese textiles export turnover to Russia to surpass $60 million mark.
Jackets generated revenue worth $15.6 million, a year-on-year increase of 40 percent and accounted for 28 percent of total export turnover of textiles and apparel to Russia.
In November 2006, Vietnam exported 86,200 jackets at an average markup of $17.3 per piece, up 36 percent in volume and 21 percent in price terms, over the previous month.
Similarly, exports of overcoat and sportswear stood at $6.95 and $2.46 million, a growth rate of 257 percent and 178 percent, respectively, over same period 2005.
Till October 2006, about 170 enterprises exported goods to Russia. Among them, International Thai Binh Duong Co exported goods worth $4.8 million, Saigon Apparel exported goods worth $3.54 million, An Phu Chau exported $3.3 million of goods and HaCoTa exported over $3 million.
