MINFAL rejects to open Wagah permanently

Request of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) to open Wagah border for cotton import from India on permanent basis has been rejected by The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock (MINFAL), official sources informed.

MINFAL rejected the proposal because it might encourage textile mills in Sindh to open the cotton import through Khokhrapar and mills in other parts may also demand to open western borders for cotton import.

Textile industry has to seek permission each time they intend to import cotton from the neighbouring country through Wagah border.

An APTMA official told that it was a serious injustice done to the textile industry.
