Mozambique President Armando Emilio Guebuza met National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi on January 17, 2007 to strengthen mutual co-operation.

Guebuza advised that to improve bilateral trade, more delegations should visit both countries. At a forum in Hanoi, he pointed out sectors having high potential for bilateral trade, including furniture, leather goods and agricultural processing.

Vietnam and Mozambique inked a co-operation agreement to attract more investment, which could improve bilateral relations.

Vietnam will help Mozambique to foray into ASEAN markets, while Mozambique will help the country to enter African markets, according to Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.

In first nine months 2006, bilateral trade turnover was worth US $11 million, of which about $9 million was generated by Vietnamese textile and apparel exports.
