Textile exports swell over 102% in 2006

Textile exports surpassed Manat1,222.160 trillion (US $91.159 million) last year. Exports underwent a massive surge of 102.7 percent as against the 2005 figure.

Rise in production potential of most factories, launch of new units manufacturing products and semi-products as well as modernization are factors responsible for tremendous growth of textile sector.

Major importers of Turkmenistan's textile goods include US, EU and CIS. Fresh facilities including Abadan cotton spinning factory and Ashgabat textile complex are anticipated to boost textile exports further.
