Exports of hand-woven carpets in East Azerbaijan have increased significantly in first nine months of current Iranian year (March 21 to December 21, 2006).
During this period, industry in this region exported about US $150 million of hand-woven carpets.
According to estimates, figures are expected to reach $250 million by the end of the year (March 20, 2007).
Hand-woven carpets were mostly exported to Arab states of Persian Gulf region and Europe.
In last Iranian year, exports of hand-woven carpets stood at $600 million.
