Cotton yarn exports in January 2007

Last year, exports of cotton yarn dropped significantly and same trend is expected to continue in 2007.

In January 2007, exports of cotton yarn stood at 1,324.3 5 tons, a decrease of 16.6 percent compared to previous year.

During this period, domestic industry exported goods mainly to countries such as Argentina, Peru and Chile.

Moreover, exports to US reached 34.2 tons this year with a declining rate of 82.5 percent compared to previous year.

However, cotton yarn imports achieved 889 tons, an increase of 37.2 percent. Most of the goods were imported from Pakistan, India and Paraguay.

In 2006, a significant decline of 42.4 percent was seen in cotton yarn exports of the country.
