Footwear exports achieved good results in terms of both value and volume during January 2007, largely due to Vietnam's status as official WTO member.

Of all products, the figures of leather–capped sports shoes, tanned leather–capped shoes and plastic ones showed the strongest growth rate at 200.13 percent, 94.56 percent and 132.89 percent respectively, in comparison with same month last year.

Vietnamese footwear industry earned $379.52 million by exporting 50.55 million pairs of products in January, posting a year–on–year growth of 17.7 percent from 2006 and 12.06 percent from 2005.
