During January 2007, import of tanned leather declined 22.33 percent to $20.95 million compared to same period last year. Import price of tanned leather also went down, quoted roundly at $1.78 per feet.

Industrial experts have predicted that exports may witness growth in coming months, with export of tanned leather–capped shoes supposed to soar sharply.

Export rates are expected to recover this month and hike slightly in the months to come.
