Although the export of knitted clothing had advanced 10 percent in 2004, it was able to rise only 4 percent in 2005. Turkey's knitted clothing export increased 5.9 percent in 2006. The main reason behind this increase is the rise in the export to UK, Italy, Spain and Bulgaria.

One of the significant articles among the knitted clothing products, the socks, was able to keep its 11 percent proportion in knitted clothing in 2006. Comparing to the year 2005 the socks export has increased 3.4 percent in 2006 while the total knitted export increased only 5.9 percent. The first three countries to which the most socks are exported are the UK, Germany and France.
