Soon, Tamil Nadu would be opening three handloom export textile zones for which the footing is supposed to commence in end months of this year.
For this project, the Center has sanctioned Rs64 lakh, out of which Rs33.81 lakh will be sponsored by the Center while the exporters' contribution would be Rs12.2 lakh and the remaining fund will be from the district.
The fund collected by the districts would also be utilized for technical improvement of looms and the work sheds.
The sectors would be located at Aruppukottai, Srivilliputtur and Rajapalayam and a team of 250 shortlisted craftsmen will be trained for two month in weaving, quality control and timely delivery of goods.
