Demand pushes up cotton import prices

According to a cotton industry official from northern Golestan Province, Iran imports cotton at a higher price.

A source from Cotton Factories Cooperative added that this was despite the fact that global price of cotton had soared to $1.55 per kg.

He blamed China's soaring demand for the product and under-cultivation of lands for the price hike and said indigenous industries should adhere to the international price of cotton.
