Guangdong exports surge

Guangdong Customs recently reported that the import and export trade of the Province during first six months of 2007, reached US $285.79 billion, up 22.7 percent over the corresponding time last year, accounting for 29.1 percent of the total trade value.

This figure registered a trade surplus of $46.25 billion, accounting for 41.1 percent of the country's total trade surplus.

In June this year, Guangdong's total trade value marked $54.81 billion, setting a single month record high in export value representing a growth of 24.8 percent. Of which exports touch $33.32 billion, up 31.8 percent over June last year. Region's trade surplus in June alone reached $11.83 billion.

Exports till June were $166.02 billion, an increase of 26.5 percent, representing 30.4 percent of the country's total exports.

Country's import reached $119.77 billion, representing a surge of 17.8 percent, accounting for 27.6 percent of national total import value.

Statistics reveal that during the first half of 2007, textile and apparel exports from Guangdong registered an increase of 31.2 percent.

Although China is encountering obstacles like EU opposition and anti-dumping, footwear exports of Guangdong did not suffer much impact in the first half of 2007, which grew 17.1 percent.

However, region's import of crude oil surged 11.9 percent compared to the same period of previous year.
