Da Nang textile exports show sharp growth

Da Nang city's Department of Trade currently reported that textile and apparel companies of the city in the first half 2007 witnessed a sharp export growth of 43.9 percent with the US being the top market.

Such Companies include Vinatex Apparel and Textile Company at 91.49 percent and Hoa Tho Textiles at 36.65 percent. March 29 Apparel SJC (29/3) has just inked a US $141 million contract with US – based Paceman to supply millions of products in 4 years (till 2010).

According to local experts, such high growth is largely due to Vietnam's favorable conditions and successful accession to WTO, obtaining the Permanent Normal Trade Relation status (PNTR) form the US.

Expansion in textile and apparel made significant contribution to robust growth of overall goods and services of the Da Nang, worth $361.3 million, a 21.5 percent higher than same period 2006.
