Talks continue to improve trade ties with China

Bilateral talks between China and Turkmenistan are in the pipe line, so as to establish better prospects in textiles and an overall enhancement in both economies.

Turkmen delegates like Minister of Textile Industry J Geokenova, Minister of Trade and Consumers Cooperation G Melekeyev and Chairman of Food Industry Association N Ataguliev had a further discussion on the prospects of developing the Turkmen-Chinese collaboration and the execution of the joint ventures in hand with Chinese Deputy Minister of Commerce Yui Guanchzhow.

Trade proceeds between the two nations in 2000 – 2006 reflected a tenfold augmentation. The primary Chinese exports to Turkmenistan are of industrial-technical equipment, light industry products and consumer goods, amoong others.

However, China's imports include licorice root, cotton, wool, leather, textile products, light and petrochemical industries.
