As a result of the anti-dumping tax levied by Turkey on Chinese brushed and chenille fabrics, the country's export value of the former dropped by 9.69 percent in first five months of 2007 and stood at US $10.65 million. This drop is in comparison to the same period last year.
In all, China exported 56,900 metres of brushed and chenille fabrics to Turkey in the first five months of 2007 with a decrease rate of 22.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The export average unit price was $1.87 per meter with a rise rate of 16.51 percent.
Turkey's anti-dumping drive against the two Chinese fabrics began in December 2004 and involved a total of $65.83 million. From 2006, Turkey began to levy an anti-dumping tax of $1.50 per kg. However, this did not have a major impact as the country still managed to export $70.28 million worth of brushed and chenille fabrics to Turkey with a decrease rate of just 2.11 percent compared to 2005.
