Customs statistics show that June cotton imports increased over May, but significantly lower than the same time last year.
Imports during this time reached 2,52,500 tons, a rise of 37,500 tons over the previous month, but a drop of 33.67 percent is seen from May previous year. From September 2006 to June 2007, cotton imports amounted nearly 1.7 million tons, a slide of 49.44 percent over last year.
China's cotton imports from January to June this year totaled 1.1769 million tons, less 1.2731 million tons than the corresponding period last year, or a drop of 52.01 percent.
