The export of Chinese bed sheets to American markets in the first half of this year significantly increased. This rise is considerable because it is in comparison to major exporting countries like India and Pakistan.
While export of Chinese bed sheets increased by 53.65 percent in quantity, that of Pakistan went up by just 1.55 percent. Again, the share which Chinese bed sheets occupied in the American import market went up to 34 percent from the existing 26 percent; compared to this, the share that Pakistan-exported bed sheets occupied in the US market went down five percent for the existing 41 percent.
While the quantity of Pakistan cotton pillow slip decreased by 1.75 percent, that of China registered a phenomenal rise of 61 percent.
Compared to India, the quantity of Chinese carpet increased by 23 percent while that of the former decreased by 52 percent. China-made carpets grabbed a 23-percent share of the US export market, which went up from 12 percent. On the other hand, share of Indian carpets in the US market plunged sharply from 76 percent to 59 percent.
