The European Commission decided that exports of 10 categories of Chinese textile products to the EU would no longer be subject to quota restrictions after December 31, 2007. This will bring opportunities to textile and garment industry in Shenzhen.

Textile and garment sector is one of Shenzhen's traditional export industries. In 2006, it achieved a production value of 120 billion yuan, of which exports reached a record high of US $10.6 billion.

Shenzhen enterprises are planning to make most out of the abolishment of export quotas and accelerate innovation and brand strategy to build a 'Fashion Silicon Valley' in Shenzhen, thereby taking the industry to new heights.
