According to China Custom statistics, in the first half of 2007, the country exported 8.296 billion meters of fabric, down 3.72 percent against the same period last year. Export value was around US $8.24 billion, up 1.99 percent, with average unit price $0.99 per meter, a jump of 5.32 percent.
After China's accession to WTO, country's export of fabric has gone up, with annual growth rate in volume representing 15.47 percent and value touching 20.37 percent during the period between 2001 to 2006. Thus, it is obvious that China has very well handled competition.
In the first half of 2000, the average export price of Chinese fabric was $ 0.77 per meter; in 2006, it was $0.94 while during the first six months of 2007, the average export price was $0.99 per meter.
During this period, Chinese fabric has made a huge progress in technique and innovation, product design and brand development.
