According to statistics made available by Belgium officials, the value of trade between China and Belgium reached 4.76 billion European dollars in the first four months of this year, up 19.8 percent than the same period last year.
The value of Belgium's export to China was 1.04 billion European dollars, up 8.6 percent; the import value of Belgium from China was 3.72 billion European dollars, up 23.4 percent.
Trade deficit was 2.68 billion European dollars, an increase of 600 million European dollars. Belgium's export to China has registered a rise in 2007. A rise rate of 11.3 percent was recorded in March while it reached 17.6 percent in April.
Belgium exported gems and noble metals, chemical products and electric and mechanical equipments to China while it imported base metals, textiles and clothing, which accounted for about 25 percent of Belgium's total imports from China.
