Textile and apparel exports to EU grows

According to Qingdao Customs statistics, textile and apparel exports from Shandong ports grew steadily in the first seven months. Of these, exports to the US and EU reached US $1.24 billion and $1.12 billion, up 23.3 percent and 25.4 percent respectively; this is higher than the overall growth rate of national exports.

EU will terminate 'safeguard measures' against Chinese textile and apparel exports next year, thus providing greater room for development.

Experts suggest that the industry should actively promote and sustain healthy development of the textile and garment industry, review new projects, eliminate backward production capacity and try to lower dependence on international cotton market.
