In the first eight months of 2007, export turnover of Dong Nai Province, located in the southern part of Vietnam, has touched US $3.4 billion, representing a year–on–year increase of 28.4 percent. This is almost 63.6 percent of the target set for 2007 and accounts for 10 percent of Vietnam's total exports turnover.
Dong Nai exported footwear worth $15 million, up by 13.5 percent; processed wood works for $17.4 million, a boost of 4.6 percent and handicraft products at $5 million, a rise of just 0.5 percent.
Foreign–invested enterprises of Dong Nai focused on key industries like electronic equipment and spare parts, footwear, food and textiles, which account for 90 percent of the total exports turnover of the province.
During January to August this year, Dong Nai Province imported products worth $3.7 billion, showing a rise of 27 percent compared to the same period of 2006.
