During the first eight months of 2007, Vinh Long province in southern Vietnam exported around 5.387 million pairs of shoes of all types, worth US $33.2 million, showing a year–on–year growth of 129 percent. In 2006, the export turnover was only $14.5 million.
Other major products that are exported from the Southern province include handicraft artefacts.
Statistics reveal that from January to August this year, Vihn Long's exports turnover of all products fetched $113.35 million, accounting for 57 percent of its 2007 target. This also represents a rise of 2 percent from same period of 2006.
