Shoe exports to EU slow down

According to the data provided by the Chamber of Commerce of Chinese import and export of light industrial products, in the first half of this year EU's leather shoes imports declined 7.76 percent due to anti-dumping cases compared to the same period of the previous year. Of these, imports volumes from China and Vietnam dropped significantly.

Imports from China fell to 0.86 million pairs with value marked US $943 million, representing a drop 26.37 and 21.36 percent, respectively from the same period last year.

The reason behind this plunge is that a number of other countries have also entered in this market. Due to implementation of anti-dumping measures many European importers started diverting their focus to Pakistan, Indonesia, India, Macao and other regions.

However, experts made an analysis on the implementation of EU measures over the past year and found that low priced footwear imports did not decrease.
