According to South India Cotton Association (SICA), increasing export demand caused a rise in cotton lint prices by the end of October.
Arrival of cotton seeds in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh were on the rise, while in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh conditions were still improving.
Cotton prices were firm in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan where Bengal Deshi variety rated Rs1550 to Rs1700, while the J-34 Saw gin valued at Rs1950 to Rs2000 per maund spot.
Prices saw an upward trend in Gujarat, as Shankar-6 ranged from Rs19,500 to Rs20,500 and V-797 from Rs15,200 to Rs15,600 per candy spot.
In Madhya Pradesh, MECH1/H4 quoted Rs19,200 to Rs19,800 per candy spot, while price levels ranged from Rs18,500 to Rs19,500 per candy in Maharashtra, depending on staple of 28 to 30mm.
In Andhra Pradesh, MCU5 estimated at Rs20,000 to Rs 21,300 per candy spot.
DCH32 priced between Rs27,500 and Rs30,000 per candy in Karnataka, indicating a steady trend, while prices showed an upward trend in Tamil Nadu.
