Synthetic fibre prices likely to rise

Prices of synthetic and man-made fiber products are expected to rise in 2007, while growth rate continues to fall. Output will reach 22.3 million tons by the end of the year, with an increase of about 10 percent.

Export is anticipated to grow by 1.30 million tons, up 25 percent. Total profits are estimated to reach 7.5 billion yuan, a boost of 13 percent. Loss-cover rate is expected to reduce by 4.3 percentage points.

Imports of these products are likely to touch 1.1 million tons, down about 15 percent by year end.

According to statistics, in 2006, China produced around 20.25 million tons of chemical fiber, up around 13 percent year-on-year. Production and market rate of these products reached 100 percent. Chemical fiber imports continued to decline by 15.53 percent, while exports gained by 47.74 percent during this period.
