In the period from January to September, China's textile and apparel exports realized nearly US $129.8 billion, up 20.17 percent over the same period last year, however, the growth rate dropped 3.98 percentage points.

Of these, textile exports touched about $44.28 billion, increasing to 15.13 percent, but a fall of 3.19 percent in growth rate is seen. Clothing exports were about $85.5 billion, soaring 22.95 percent, but 4.69 percentage points low in growth. A slowdown in export growth trend is evident from these statistics.

According to experts the main reasons for the slowdown are, the industrial upgradation pace focusing on scientific and technological progress and independent brand building has been slow. The textile industry has paid more attention to export product quality and structure optimization, rather than simple expansion of export volume, thereby affecting the overall export growth rate.

The official statistics display that in the first nine months this year, China's textiles and garments export volume grew about 11 percent over the same period last year, but down 4 percentage points in growth.
