Apparel export surge in 11 months

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has recently released statistical report which shows that from January to November country's textile and apparel exports reaped US $7.05 billion, representing year–on–year growth of 32 percent.

An optimistic MOIT official said that the industry will obtain its target of $7.5 billion as it could easily achieve the remaining $0.5 billion in December.

According to the report, the country has fetched a turnover of $43.64 billion from exports of all products, in these eleven months, which was up 20 percent over same period 2006.

Products enjoying the large export revenue include crude oil for $7.5 billion, rubber at $1.24 billion and footwear for $3.53 billion.
