US - top textile & apparel export market

According to Customs statistics, among the major destinations and regions of China's textile and apparel exports from January to October 2007, the US ranked first, followed by Japan and China Hong Kong, respectively.

During January-October 2007, China's textile and apparel exports to the US scored over US $22.5 billion, an increase of almost 23.4 percent over the same time last year. Exports to Japan amounted to $16.8 billion, up 3.65 percent. Exports to Hong Kong marked $15.2 billion, up 2.54 percent. Exports to the three destinations together registered more than $54.6 billion, accounting for 37.6 percent of the national total textile and apparel exports.

From January-October 2007, China's exports to the EU and the US amounted to UD $24.095 billion, up 10.50 percent, accounting for 32.12 percent of the state's total textile and apparel exports.

China's exports to non-EU and non-US destinations from January to October 2007 achieved around $98.4 billion, up 25.33 percent, accounting for nearly 67.8 percent of the country's total textile and apparel exports.

Among China's major textile and apparel import countries and regions from January-October 2007, the top three were Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, with textile and garment import value registered at above $2.6 billion, $2.63 billion and $2.1 billion, down 0.27 percent, 1.57 percent and 1.82 percent from the same time last year, respectively.
