A Jalandhar-based leather export house was accused of illegally exporting rawhide instead of the officially declared finished leather goods.
Sources confided saying that a penalty of Rs2.50 crore was exacted from the company for misusing export incentive facility.
The raid carried out by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials under the supervision of senior officer A K Sharma, recovered the penalty on the very moment.
Exports by the firm were made to a number of countries including China and Singapore and the owner also confessed of having carried the trade for the past three years.
