In the first half of 2008, Shandong Province earned foreign currency worth nearly US $7.2 billion, by exporting textile and garment products. This marks a considerable rise of 15.4 percent when compared to same time of last year and accounts for 17 percent of the Province's exports.

According to experts, big exporters were the driving force, helping the region earn good revenue from export of textile and clothing from January to June this year. Exports to Africa witnessed a rapid growth and fetched nearly $640 million in the first half of this year, boosting by 41.3 percent. Even export of textile and garment to Oceania surged and earned almost $150 million for Shandong, experiencing a hike of 38.2 percent.
