Latest official statistics show that textile and clothing export of Wenzhou city in August 2008 reached US $189 million, representing a drop of over 10.45 percent as compared to the previous month.

Industry professionals believe that with factors like RMB appreciation, rising labour and raw-material costs, inadequate technological know-how and other international pressures , it will be a while before orders from the US and EU shift back to China.

Note has to be taken of the fact that the adjusted rebate rate has not had a great effect on Chinese trade.

Experts have repeatedly stressed that key to improving sales is to upgrade quality of products and offer high value-added items. Companies need to continuously innovate and remain up to date with changing trends in global market.
