According to official source of Ministry of Industry and Trade, plunge in Indian textile and garment export has created opportunity for Vietnam and Indonesia, to enhance their visibility in US market.
With this India's position is lowered in the list of top five textile and garment exporters to US during the period January-July 2008.
Vietnam, from the fourth position, moved up, to be the second largest exporter to US market, after China. In period January- July 2008, the export value of Vietnam's textile and garment product to this market reached US $2.86 billion representing a year-on-year surge of over 23.28 percent.
In the first 7 months 2008, India's export to US market decreased 2.39 percent in term of order value meanwhile that of Vietnam and Indonesia accelerated 23 and 1.37 percent respectively.
