Deputy Governor of Guangdong Provincial Wan Qing-Liang recently stressed that governments at all levels and relevant departments must quickly provide support to exporting enterprises for their day to day production or shipment related requirements. At the same time he advised enterprises to take the initiative and actively participate in large-scale trade fairs abroad to make up for lost orders.

Affected by the financial tsunami, foreign trade enterprises in Guangdong have experienced the predicament of sharp fall in orders. According to a survey, orders received by Guangdong enterprises in the fourth quarter of 2008 fell by about 20 percent.

In the Canton Fair, trade volume with the EU and the United States dropped 14 percent and 26.7 percent respectively. In addition, recent orders from the European Union and Japanese market have also declined and most of the orders are short term and low volume based orders which are not enough to feed the requirements of any company.
