Flax imports fall drastically

According to the China Hemp Textile Industry Association, in the month of May, flax imports stood at 10,058 tons, an increase of 50.80 percent year-on-year; import value registered US $15.56 million, down 6.77 percent year-on-year.

From January to May, China's total flax imports totaled to 35,749 tons, down 15.54 percent year-on-year; total import value accumulated to $56.72 million, down 45.04 percent.

The top 4 suppliers of flax fiber were France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Egypt. Imports from French were $40.28 million, a reduction of 36.29 percent, from Belgium $12.60 million, down 53.13 percent.

From Netherlands total value of imports accumulated to $3.16 million, a reduction of 41.56 percent and finally imports from Egypt came to $463,100, down by 93.83 percent year-on-year.
