EU textile imports from China down in 2009

Imports of Chinese textiles and raw materials by the EU-27 amounted to US $42.832 billion in 2009, down 6.2 percent year on year, according to latest released figures.

China's export value of textiles and raw materials to the EU-27 countries accounted for 14.2 percent of the total amount of Chinese goods exported to the EU.

China was the largest source country of textile and raw material imports by the EU-27, textile and raw material imports from China accounting for 41.1 percent of imports from the sector.

This was followed by imports from Turkey and India, which accounted for 13.3 percent and 7.9 percent, respectively of the overall EU import value of the textile sector.
