China's trade surplus dips alarmingly in 2010

General Administration of Customs released on June 10 the report of China's foreign trade situation from January to May this year. China's total import and export value reached US $1.10009 trillion in the first five months, an increase of 44 percent year on year.

Of which, exports registered $567.74 billion, up 33.2 percent; imports fetched $532.35 billion, up 57.5 percent; trade surplus realized US $35.39 billion, down 59.9 percent.

The country's combined import and export value reached $243.99 billion in May, up 48.4 percent. Of this, exports marked $131.76 billion, up 48.5 percent and imports represented $112.23 billion, up 48.3 percent.
