Bangladesh to procure cotton from India & Uzbekistan

According to the Commerce Minister of Bangladesh, the textile industry of the country has been facing challenges due to the rise in prices of raw materials in the domestic as well as international markets. The government intends to import cotton from India and Uzbekistan to work out the problems faced by its textile sector.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the Commerce Minister will discuss the issue of cotton imports from India, which is the second biggest producer of cotton in the world, during his visit to India this month.

The Minister stated that, the government will take all necessary measures to import cotton from Uzbekistan as well, which is also one of the major cotton producers of the world.
