The Turkish government will impose protective safeguard measures on imports of textile products from Pakistan with effect from July 24, 2011.

Dr Baig the advisor on textiles has recommended exporters to ship their textile products before July 24, to avoid paying the additional duty.

Exports of denim fabrics from Pakistan will attract an additional duty of 18 percent along with 6 percent customs duty, July 24 onwards.

Turkey has imposed these safeguard measures in order to protect its local textile industry.
