Exports of cotton nearly double in Jan-Feb

In the first two months of 2011, exports of cotton from Azerbaijan, nearly doubled, when compared with the same period of 2010.

Cotton shipments rose to $1.846 million, up 89.8 percent in the period January to February 2011, from a year ago.

However, in 2010, the country exported just 3,738 tons of cotton amounting to $5.24 million at an average export price of $703.33 per ton, down 78.5 percent from 2009.

In 2009, Azerbaijan exported 17,371 tons of cotton totaling to $17.35 million.
