China's cotton yarn imports skyrocket in 2010

In 2010, China's pure cotton and cotton blended yarn imports jumped by 36.46 percent. In China's cotton yarn imports, pure cotton yarn has a lion share of 92 percent.

China imported cotton yarn worth US $3.213 billion with volumes totaling to 1.027 million tons, registering an increase of 7.74 percent on year to year basis.

In different varieties, cotton blended yarn marked 83,100 tons accounting for 7.74 percent of total imports, up 9.36 percent.

Unit prices of both pure cotton yarn and cotton blended yarn witnessed an upward trend. While unit price of pure cotton yarn imports averaged US $2.8/ kg showing 27.35 percent rise, it was US $3.5/ kg for cotton blended yarn, an increase of 18.49 percent on year to year basis.
