Leather export graph rises

Brazilian leather exports for the first ten months of the current year rose to 7 percent over the same period in 2004, rising from $1.07 billion to $1.15 billion.

Exports for October 2005 stood at 110.9 million, an upward revision from $110.5 million reached in October last year.

The Centre of the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), reported good business in exports of leather in the first ten months this year. The South Korean imports rose 82 percent, reaching $32.1 million, Netherlands a rise of 42 percent reaching $25.5 million, and the USA to 37 percent reaching $127.5 million

The main destinations for Brazilian leather is Italy, China and Hong Kong with a share of 23.45 percent, 17.93 percent and 16.52 percent respectively.
