Pakistan’s commerce ministry recently notified creation of the National Export Development Board (NEDB), which would offer strategic guidance to raise export competitiveness by improving the environment for exports and increasing export capabilities of companies. Chaired by the prime minister, it may co-opt local and overseas Pakistani experts, women and young entrepreneurs on sectoral issues.

Private sector representatives to be invited on agenda basis include those from Suraj Cotton Mills, Lahore; Sadaqat Textiles, Faisalabad; Style Textile, Lahore; Bykea, Karachi; and Nova Leathers.
The board will oversee the alignment, progress and implementation of the Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF) and various sector-specific policy initiatives. It will monitor and evaluate the government’s various export enhancement policies and initiates.
