The textile and apparel sector accounted for 55.16 per cent of Pakistan’s total exports of $26.895 billion during July 2024–April 2025, slightly up from its 55.13 per cent share in the same period of fiscal 2023–24.
By category, knitwear exports rose by 15.47 per cent year-on-year to $4,118.23 million, while exports of non-knit ready-made garments (RMG) increased by 17.52 per cent to $3,394.19 million.
Cotton yarn exports declined by 31.91 per cent to $576.02 million, whereas cotton fabric exports dipped by 0.45 per cent to $1,550.87 million. Bedwear exports grew by 12.18 per cent to $2,569.91 million.
On the import front, synthetic fibre imports increased by 9.19 per cent year-on-year to $433.67 million. Imports of synthetic and artificial silk yarn rose by 14.58 per cent to $576.13 million. Notably, Pakistan’s imports of textile machinery surged by 61.71 per cent year-on-year to $191.14 million during July 2024–April 2025, signalling a revival of new investments in the sector.
In fiscal 2023–24, Pakistan’s textile and apparel exports edged up by 0.93 per cent to $16.655 billion. In contrast, exports had declined by 14.63 per cent to $16.501 billion in fiscal 2022–23, compared to $19.329 billion in fiscal 2021–22.
