Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS Chapter 61) reached $766.022 million in January 2024, marking a 7.1 per cent decrease from $832.646 million in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS Chapter 62) amounted to $625.580 million, representing a 10.9 per cent drop compared to $702.142 million in January 2023.
During the recently concluded year 2023, Turkiye's apparel exports eased 5.86 per cent to $18.321 billion from $19.463 billion in 2022. Turkiye's apparel exports were recorded as $18.294 billion in 2021.
In the previous month, December 2023, exports saw a more significant drop, falling 10.74 per cent to $1.420 billion. Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories fell by 8.2 per cent, totalling $813.991 million, against $886.966 million in December 2022. Shipments of non-knitted apparel and accessories also declined, dropping by 13.9 per cent from $606.461 million in December 2022 to $704.126 million in December 2023.
